25 Fresh Instagram Ideas to Try in 2025
How was your festive break? It all feels like a bit of a blur now, doesn’t it? But here we are, ready to hit the ground running in 2025!
If you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed by Instagram (or you just don’t know where to start this year), don’t worry—we’ve got you covered. Whether you’re a solopreneur, small business owner, or just looking to spruce up your online presence, these 25 tips will help you shake off the holiday cobwebs and get back in the game.
So grab a coffee (or a leftover mince pie), and let’s get started!
1. Give Your Profile Picture a Glow-Up
New year, new you, new profile pic! Does your current one reflect who you are in 2025? Swap out anything blurry, outdated, or irrelevant, and go for something crisp, professional, and on-brand - whether it’s your logo or your smiling face, people should recognise you at a glance.
2. Make Your Name Field Work Harder
This isn’t just your name - since it is searchable, it’s prime real estate for keywords! Instead of just using your name or something quirky, think about what your dream customer would search for and pack those 64 characters with keywords that make you discoverable.
3. Pimp Your Bio
Your Instagram bio is your digital elevator pitch—a quick snapshot that tells users exactly what you do and how you can help them. With limited characters (150 to be exact), it’s crucial to be specific and direct: skip vague statements and focus on what makes you unique and valuable. Bonus points for emojis and a killer call-to-action (CTA) like, “💌 DM me for a free consultation!”
4. Pin Your Best Posts
Treat your pinned posts like a greatest hits album. These posts are the first thing visitors see when they land on your profile, so make sure they pack a punch. Pick three posts that showcase what you’re all about—whether it’s your best-selling product, a killer testimonial, or a behind-the-scenes video that shows your personality.
5. Tidy Up Those Highlights
When was the last time you looked at your Instagram Highlights? Are they organised? Do they have branded covers? Or are they a chaotic mishmash of random Stories? Streamline them into categories like “About Us,” “Testimonials,” or “Products” and make them visually appealing.
6. Play Around With Reels
Short form video isn't going anywhere so don't delay any longer. You need to be able to edit short videos together to have an impact on Instagram - we have lots of tips on how to make this easier so drop us a message if this is an area you need help with - don't just take our word for it - we recently did a Reels Workshop for the International College of Professional Celebrants "I would heartily recommend Danielle and Lara to anyone interested in demystifying reels." So get in touch!
7. Talk to the Camera (Yes, You!)
We get it—talking to the camera feels awkward at first. But talk-to-camera videos aren't just a trend—they're an essential strategy for Instagram success. Sure, they might not always snag the most views, but these videos build trust and make your brand feel human. Start with an introduction or answer FAQs. Pro tip: smile, keep it short, and pretend you’re talking to a friend.
8. Get to Know Your Audience
Spend some time really thinking about who your audience is: What are their desires, interests, and pain points? Where do they do their supermarket shop? What podcasts do they listen to? Do they have kids? Dogs? Are they homeowners? You need to get inside their heads. Lara and I love deep diving into target audiences and audience personas so don't hesitate to set up a call with us if this is where you are drawing a blank. Your audience needs to be at the heart of everything you do, so this step is so key yet so many people skip it.
9. Share User-Generated Content (UGC)
Your customers are your secret weapon. Encourage them to tag you in posts and share their photos, reviews, and Stories. It’s authentic, relatable, and saves you time creating content. Think about ways you can encourage your customers to share photos or testimonials with you in 2025.
10. Make 2025 the year you engage with Trends
Stay updated on current trends, and incorporate them into your content. Instagram is playful—lean into that! Try trending audio, participate in challenges, or adapt viral content ideas to fit your brand. Just make sure it aligns with your brand voice.
11. Have Some Fun With Memes
Yes, memes. Social media doesn’t have to be all business. Instagram is where people come to escape and have fun. Share a funny, relatable meme to show off your personality.
12. Create How-To Content
Tutorials and tips are a hit on social media. People love learning something new. Whether it’s a “how to style” post, a recipe, or a quick DIY, give your audience something they can save, share, and come back to. Bonus points if it’s visually engaging!
13. Tell Your Story
People connect with stories, not just sales pitches. So share your own anecdotes from life and your business that resonate with your audience and showcase your brand values. How did you start your business? How did you get to where you are today? What did you learn in 2024? Share the human side of your brand. Remember, people do business with people.
14. Celebrate the Wins
Big or small, milestones deserve a shoutout so celebrate your wins with your audience. Did you hit 1,000 followers? Launch a new product? Celebrate it! Milestones are a great way to engage your audience and show gratitude.
15. Post Behind-the-Scenes Content
Let your audience peek behind the curtain. Whether it’s your workspace, your process, or your team, behind-the-scenes content makes your brand relatable. And don’t we all love a little behind-the-scenes nosey.
16. Get Interactive With Stories
Polls, quizzes, and question boxes aren’t just fun—they’re a great way to boost engagement and get feedback from your audience. Ask your audience what they want to see, what they love, or just what their favourite pizza topping is.
17. Add Captions to Videos
Over 80% of users watch videos without sound. Captions make your content accessible and ensure your message gets across loud and clear.
18. Recycle Your Best Content
That post from last year that did really well? Give it a facelift! Update the caption, tweak the visuals, and re-share it.
19.Team Up With Others
Collaborations are one of the most effective ways to grow your audience on Instagram, and we believe they’re going to be a key strategy for growth in 2025. Whether it’s teaming up for a giveaway, creating a joint reel, or sharing a guest post, partnerships with complementary brands or creators can help you reach entirely new audiences who are likely to be interested in what you offer.
20.Try Carousels for Deep Dives
Got a lot to say? Break it down into bite-sized slides with a carousel post. Carousels are perfect for storytelling or breaking down complex information into digestible slides. Swipe-worthy content keeps people on your post longer, which the algorithm loves.
21. Shout Out Your Happy Customers
Let happy customers do the selling for you. Turn their glowing reviews into posts or Stories. Social proof builds trust!
22. Plan Ahead
Take the stress out of posting by planning your content in advance. Scheduling tools like Later or Planoly are lifesavers when life gets busy.
23. Audit Your Content
If there is one thing I want you to start doing in 2025, it is looking at your Instagram Insights. There is so much information in your insights that will help you evaluate what’s working and what’s not. What’s performing well? What’s flopping? Use that data to refine your strategy. We do reporting for our clients every week on a Monday morning so if you need a lesson on understanding Instagram Insights, we can help you with that. We can set up a session to cover this off with you so drop us a DM.
24. Quality Over Quantity
Posting every day isn’t the goal. It’s better to post one great piece of content a week than five rushed ones. Consistency and quality win every time.
25. Don’t Forget the Fun!
Social media doesn’t have to be serious all the time. Play around, try new things, and let your personality shine. Your audience will love seeing the real you.
Managing social media can feel like an uphill battle, especially for solopreneurs and small to medium-sized businesses trying to keep up with ever-changing algorithms and the constant demand for fresh, engaging content. We get it—it’s a lot to juggle.
Imagine taking that weight off your shoulders. That’s where we come in.
