5 Ways To Support Your Local Business Right Now
So in retrospect, in 2015, not a single person got the answer right to “Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?”
No one saw THIS coming. It is a crazy time in the world right now. So many of us are being affected by illness, by worry and by economic downturn. The global pandemic has impacted every single of us in different ways.
Young & Cooper is a small self-funded business and we are in the same boat as you. We are feeling the real economic realities of a country plunged into recession. The economy shrank 20.4% compared with the first three months of the year. Gulp…
We are also friends with so many small businesses and freelancers who are making difficult decisions and struggling to survive until we get to the other side of this. We watch in awe as they pivot and get creative as each new challenge arises.
It is also worth remembering that we are all in the same storm but not all of us are in the same boat, so if we are in a position to help, it is so important, now more than ever, to try and support our local small business community.
Here are some ideas:
Buy something!
Try today, or once a week, to order something online, get a food delivery, buy an author's book to read, or send a gift. Every little bit helps them right now!
Get a gift certificate!
Even if you don’t need anything right now, the small business gets the money now to keep things afloat, and in a few months, you can treat yourself or a friend.
Share their content!
Share your favourite brands in Instagram Stories. We have set up a Story Highlight called Local Community where we are sharing content from local businesses. Remember, more eyes on their work is a great way to help support them, too!
Engage on your favourite pages.
All 'likes', 'follows' and 'comments' are welcome and needed. Be generous!
Send an encouraging email or message.
There are real people behind every small business social media account and it can be really touching to have that support and love from fans, friends and even strangers.
any other ideas? We want to hear them.
One of the unforeseen outcomes of this terrible virus is how communities have come together to support each other in beautiful ways. Let’s work together and support our local small businesses.
